Store #1 and Store #3 undergoing Phase I stabilization/restoration, August 2003

Store #3 gets new floor joists.  In it's earlier use as a grocery, a walk-in cooler was was located above this area.  Many years of leaking or non-functioning drains had rotted away the floor, necessitating replacement of the joists and floor.  This picture was taken while construction/restoration is in progress, August 2003.

The basement of store #1 is also getting much needed attention.  Years of storm runoff draining under the floor had caused damage to the floor joists and also was causing early stages of structural decay.  Drainage is being repaired and enhanced to stop further deterioration of this historic building.  Much of the original floor hardwood was saved and will be placed back on the floor after the joists are replaced.  This picture was taken during construction/restoration, August 2003.
